Nurses Improving Care for Healthsystem Elders (NICHE) program is designed to improve the quality of care for hospitalized older adults by increasing awareness of geriatric issues, improving staff competence in geriatric care and supporting the implementation of hospital geriatrics protocols. NICHE’s mission is to engage, encourage and inspire nurses and other healthcare practitioners to identify gaps and needs in geriatric care and implement solutions to close those gaps. NICHE provides an extensive array of resources and tools that guide, support and educate healthcare professionals and facilities throughout the process of achieving NICHE designation. provides nurses and other health care professionals with immediate access to the most current and comprehensive geriatric-care information available anywhere. addresses the need that many nurses face to improve older adult patient outcomes through better staff education and access to evidence-based knowledge. eLearning Center is your continuing education portal to courses, tools and other resources. HIGN’s objectives for the e-Learning center are to help improve care of older adults in clinical settings, provide the means for faculty to integrate content on care of older adults into their curriculum and house resources for nurses interested in taking the gerontological certification exam.

Hartford Institute Forums is a discussion board open to healthcare practitioners interested in shaping the quality of healthcare for older adults.
