The NICHE Tool Kit consists of
strategies that, together, help hospitals substantially change
the way they deliver nursing care to older adults. The Tool Kit
includes the geriatric institutional assessment profile (GIAP)
instrument, nursing models, nursing practice protocols, a NICHE
LISTSERV, Try This Assessment Instruments, and Gerontological
Nursing On-Line Review Course to
prepare nurses to gain a credential in Gerontological nursing.
NICHE is a program that works for everybody and can be
implemented anywhere. It is driven by a hospital-based
assessment of geriatric strengths and weaknesses and is based on
models of geriatric nursing care focusing on prevention and
management of common geriatric syndromes.
