HIGUS Hartford Institute Geriatric Undergraduate Scholars Program

 

The Hartford Institute has developed a competitive application development program for NYU College of Nursing baccalaureate program students.  The HIGUS program seeks to engage and develop undergraduate students interested in specializing in the care of the older adult through mentorship and additional training, utilizing the existing resources of the HIGN and NYUCN.

This program seeks to provide further development to future clinical and research leaders in geriatric nursing, ensuring safe, scientifically sound, holistic care is provided in this vulnerable population.” – Ab Brody, RN, PhD, GNP-BC Program Director

The Program includes

• Small Group Workshops with Interprofessional Faculty
• Mentorship from NYU Geriatrics Faculty
• Geriatric Focused Clinical Experiences
• Integrative, Independent Project in place of Nursing Elective
in Final Semester
• Access to all Hartford Institute Online E-Learning Modules

Eligibility Criteria:

• Students in good standing and have a minimum GPA of 3.0
in the nursing sequence
• Accelerated baccalaureate students currently in the second
nursing sequence eligible for the summer cohort
• Traditional baccalaureate students currently in the second
nursing sequence eligible for the fall cohort
