Clinical Teaching Modules Real-world gerontological teaching strategies.

The Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing (HIGN) and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) have prepared modules to help clinical nursing faculty teaching undergraduate students in hospitals integrate care of older adult subjects.

These teaching modules use a case-study design with an “evolving case” progression. The modules guide faculty members through a typical clinical day on a medical/surgical unit and provide tips on how to integrate content on assessment and dementia into the clinical assignment, the pre-conference, bedside teaching, post-conference, charting and clinical evaluation stages.
