Hartford Institute Gerontological Certification Review Course
The Hartford Institute Gerontological Nursing Certification Review course examines the fundamental knowledge about care of the older adult that the RN must master to be certified as a Gerontological Nurse by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), a subsidiary of the American Nurses Association.
Clinical Teaching Modules
The Hartford Institute and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) have prepared two modules specifically created to help clinical nursing faculty teaching undergraduate nursing students in hospitals to integrate care of older adults.
Nursing Home Modules
These online learning modules, developed by the Hartford Institute and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, are designed to help faculty select and use nursing homes for undergraduate student clinical placement, with a special focus on nursing homes involved in resident-directed care and culture change.
Advance Practice Web Based Case Studies
These geriatric case studies have been constructed to mirror case studies typically used in nurse practitioner education, and thus to help faculty easily introduce geriatric concepts into the curriculum.
Elder Mistreatment Course
Health professionals and allied health workers need to know and recognize the clinical indicators of elder mistreatment (EM) and need to know what actions to take if they suspect EM. However, many healthcare professionals are not aware that EM even exists, and few are actually trained to screen and assess for EM. This course covers the following:
Concepts of elder mistreatment
Clinical recognition of elder mistreatment
Research on elder mistreatment
Legal aspects of elder mistreatment
The care continuum and elder mistreatment
Contemporary elder mistreatment theories
Clinical documentation of elder mistreatment
The impact of elder neglect on clinical care
